RUBBER DUCKIES RULE DEER CREEK
The Kiwanis Club of Madoc
ran the 2004 First Annual Rubber Duckie Race down Deer Creek from the
Whytock Park Bridge to the Madoc Ball Park at 1:00 P.M. on Saturday,
June 5th. Around 600 duckies were simultaneously launched by
starters Hazel Gill anf Karen Jones on the dot of 1:00 P.M. for a long
tortuous and hazardous trip less than a mile down Deer Creek. The
rubber duckies fought adverse winds, logs, branches, back eddies, waterfalls,
and the creek banks for over three hours when the winning trio finally
made it to the finish line. The first duckie into the winners hole
in the finish line was purchased by Dan Mullett giving him $1,000.00
on his $5.00 investment. Second place went to the duckie of Deb
Asselstine bringing her $500.00, and third prize of $300.00 was won
by the duckie belonging to Denise Morton.
